BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS

1. COURSE OVERVIEW
The Basic Computer Skills course gives beginners the essential skills to use a computer confidently for study, work and everyday digital tasks. Learners practise with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, the Internet and basic AI tools while completing a concrete client-based assignment.
2. PRACTICAL INFORMATION
3. OBJECTIVE
By the end of the course, the learner should be able to organise files, create simple professional documents, use basic spreadsheets and presentations, navigate the Internet safely and use AI tools for simple productivity tasks.
4. PRACTICAL CLASS 1 – WINDOWS, FILES & INTERNET
- Identify the main parts of a computer and use the keyboard and mouse efficiently
- Use Windows: desktop, windows, settings and common applications
- Create, rename, move, copy and organise files and folders
- Use USB drives and cloud storage safely
- Search the Internet, download files and manage basic online safety
Practical Assignment: Build and submit the organised digital folder structure for the client project.
5. PRACTICAL CLASS 2 – WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, PUBLISHER & AI
- Create and format a simple professional document in Word
- Create a simple Excel table with calculations
- Prepare a short PowerPoint presentation
- Create a simple flyer or information sheet in Publisher
- Use AI tools to generate, improve and verify simple work content
Practical Assignment: Produce the first version of the client’s digital office pack.
6. PROFESSIONAL PROJECT
Complete a practical client assignment combining file organisation, a Word document, an Excel table, a short presentation and a simple communication visual.
7. PRESENTATION, ASSESSMENT & VALIDATION
Present the completed client work, complete the practical skills assessment, submit corrected files and receive the training certificate after validation.
8. PRACTICAL ASSIGNMENTS BETWEEN CLASSES
The practical assignments are directly linked to the real client project. During the week, the learner advances the work, submits it online, receives instructor feedback and makes corrections before the next Saturday.
